Australian Ginger Growers Association president Shane Templeton said demand for ginger had risen around the world because of COVID-19. Why does Australia is paying near $100/kg for FRESH GINGER ???
Because the limited exporting of fresh ginger from China and depending on transport costs such as freight, short of container therefore it pushed fresh ginger price in Australia has more than doubled compared to this time last year,
On the ABC Rural Facebook page Danelle Bartels said she was treating fresh ginger “like gold” after paying a staggering $71.99/kg in Victoria.

The Chinese ginger export volume in May 2021 declined by circa 45% in comparison with May in 2020. This shows how serious the contraction of ginger export is this year. As for the price, the export price is likely to remain high for the foreseeable future. And this will undoubtedly have an impact on the next harvest of ginger
